The series speaks of the importance of creating activism in young people. The Young Democrats of Illinois were featured by our South Chicagoland Young Democrats, the high school chapter. To view the articles go to the Southland Chicago Young Democrats http://www.southchiyd.com/. The article spoke about the importance the internet radio, and TV plays in our generations lives. For the past year, our commuincations team has been working hard to promote a new program of reaching out to the media and working to create a working relationship with TV, Radio and Internet markets. Working with the excutive board. we have created a three step program. We offer free web space to our chapters and web support to help create a n online presence. Working with nationally syndicated radio programs like Beyond the Beltway, we give our young leaders exposure to both TV and Radio where we can debate the important issues and build a working relationships with air america, where we are provided opportunties to create a local format for a radio show that highlights local, state, and national issues that help to define the local communties we live in. Through the communications team of a weekly featured state wide newsletter of the Young Democratic voice, we can provide updated news around our state. Young Democrats of Illinois is at the forefront of this new era and we thank all the members for helping to make this program a success.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-06-20T18:15:31Z</dcterms:modified>

YD Mayor Herb Riede (PA) featured on ABC TV election panel

Video is available here: http://www.abc27.com/news/stories/0207/398864.html

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-06-20T17:52:56Z</dcterms:modified>

Young Democrats featured in Georgia's largest newspaper

by Billy Joyner (GA) and Jason Cecil (GA)
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution wrote an article on the Young Democrats of Georgia in the January 25 edition of the paper. You can read the article here:
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/legis07/stories/2007 /01/25/0125metyoungdems.html
The Young Democrats of Georgia are very excited to get some good ink in the state’s largest newspaper. We are young, hip, edgy, and obnoxiously optimistic. The article did a good job of demonstrating that, but there are some facts that didn’t make it into the article:
1. YDG’s membership has doubled in 3 years. In 2004 we had 15 chapters and 130 convention delegates. This year, even after purging the chapter and membership rolls, YDG has 27 chapters with many more soon to be chartered and expects well over 200 state convention delegates.
2. YDG’s fundraising has increased by an order of magnitude. In 2004 YDG raised about $20,000. This year we have already received $120,000 in pledges.
3. Democratic Party of Georgia leaders are increasingly looking to us for guidance and leadership. Party leaders vying for DPG office have openly courted our vote and sought our input.
4. We do more lobbying, campaigning, training, and party building than any other partisan group in Georgia. The Young Democrats of Georgia collectively put in THOUSANDS of volunteer hours in 2006. YDG did this at the legislature, on campaigns, and engaging in our own youth voter mobilization effort.
5. Young Voters are Democratic and increasing in numbers. Young people voted for Democrats with a 10% margin in 2004 and a 22% margin in 2006. The youth voter was the only age group that Georgia’s Democratic nominee for governor won in 2006. The majority of us are now even identifying as Democrats which was not the case even 3 years ago.
The Young Democrats of Georgia have come a long way, and the future ahead is bright.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-06-20T17:34:33Z</dcterms:modified>

Young Democrats groups in the newspapers

Here are some clips of Young Democrats groups in the news from the past week:
